Be The Duck Bath and Body Products: Review

Christy is the owner and creator of Be The Duck a natural vegan bath and body products small business that was founded in 2008. Christy spent a great deal of time, effort, and thought in developing her products, her goal was to create extra rich recipes that were designed to be highly moisturizing. All of her products contain botanical ingredients that soothe and soften the skin all while being earth friendly and all natural. Many of the herbs used in her products were grown in Christy's organic garden, how cool is that?

That is something I can definitely appreciate in a company and it's products, I was thrilled when I was sent 2 products to try out for the purpose of this review. I received Luscious Cherry Almond a Natural Handmade Vegan Shea Butter Body Lotion and a Luscious Cherry Almond Handmade Natural Vegan Soap Bar.

I love the packaging the bag was gorgeous and everything was wrapped so nicely and properly I had no spills or damaged products.

Luscious Cherry Almond Lotion
Size: Travel Size 2oz
Price: $2.99
Texture: nice and creamy, goes on thick and then melts into your skin
Color: White

Ingredients: Rose Water, Sweet Almond Oil, Apricot Oil, Sunflower Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Evening Primrose Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Emulsifying Wax, Stearic Acid,Essential Oils and/or Fragrance Oil, Leucidal Liquid (natural preservative derived from radishes)

My Thoughts: I love this lotion, my skin was left feeling very soft and moisturized all day long, not too mentioned smelling delicious! The smell is wonderful I love it! It is very fresh, clean and crisp smelling without being overpowering.

Luscious Cherry Almond Handmade Vegan Soap
Texture: Like that of a regular soap bar except you can see and feel the ground almonds throughout
Size: I believe I received a travel size but her normal soap are cut 1 inch thick and weigh anywhere from 4-5oz
Color: a creamy tan

Ingredients: Distilled Water, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Essential and or Fragrance Oils and Ground Almonds

My Thoughts: The soap paired with the lotion is a like a perfect marriage :) The soap is also extremely moisturizing, I didn't have the dry feeling I usually get after I towel dry right after a shower, usually I am running to my lotion first thing but not this time the soap left my skin very smooth and soft which is great! It did however take awhile for me to work up a good lather but that's okay because once I got that mastered it was smooth sailing from there!

I would definitely purchase not only these same products from Be The Duck but also any of her other scents she has as well. Her prices are very affordable, I love that her products are natural, earth friendly and all vegan and they work so well on my skin :)

You can find Christy's products at her etsy shop HERE

Curls: Review

I had the pleasure of receiving the "Straight For A Day" kit by Curls for this review. I choose this kit because I was in need of a good deep conditioner and I was really interested in trying their curl elixir on the diva.

Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea Conditioner
Ingredients:
Purified Water, Steralkonium, Chloride, Soybean Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Octyl Palmitrate, Certified Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Certified Organic Sunflower Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonum Methosulfate, Certified Organic Ho She Wu Extract, Certified Organic Green Tea Extract, Certified Organic Chamomile Extract, Certified Organic Calendula Extract, Certified Organic Mango Butter, Certified Organic Shea Butter, Bean Tree, Polysorbate 60, Panthenol, Soy Protein, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Natural Fragrance.

Their Claim: Transform dry, chemically altered tresses in minutes with this heat activated deep conditioner. Exotic Asian extracts, natural humectants, and vitamin packed botanicals are combined to condition and strengthen damaged curls. Use with heat 1-4x a month for best results.

Directions: Apply an ample amount of Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea Conditioner to wet hair. Detangle with a wide tooth comb. Wrap hair under a plastic cap and condition with heat for 20-25 minutes. Rinse. Proceed with moisturizing and styling.

My Thoughts:
I love this deep conditioner for my daughter's hair, it made her hair so soft and manageable. The smell is lovely, very fruity and exotic, the texture is thick and creamy just how we like it :) I followed the directions exactly and we had great results each time we used it.

Champagne & Caviar Curl Elixir
Ingredients:
Soybean Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Beeswax, Vitis Vinifera Grape (Champagne) Fruit Extract, Caviar Extract, Silk Amino Acids, Shea Butter, Mango Seed Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Evening Primrose Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Candelilla Wax, Fragrance.

Their Claim:
Experiencing dry, dull tresses? This natural elixir creates unbelievable sheen. Does your damaged hair seem to grow at an alarmingly slow rate? Champagne & Caviar Curl Elixir will encourage growth and strengthen your hair by replacing keratin depleted from chemical processes.

Directions:
Use alone or on top of your favorite products for extra sheen. Apply directly to scalp daily to encourage a healthy scalp and enhance growth. Use after any chemical service to restore elasticity and strength.

My Thoughts:
I really like this elixir on the diva's hair for sheen and actually on her scalp to help relieve her dry itchy scalp. I like the texture of this elixir it is thick and the smells is good too, it sort of reminds me of a fruity tropical drink or smoothie :)

Here are a couple of pictures of the diva's hair after using both products and no other products are on her hair, these pictures are of her dry stretched hair.

Check out that shine!

After I removed her bands from the previous night.

Overall I would definitely purchase these two products again for her hair, as they both provided great results and are match made in heaven when used together :)

Enjoy!

Finger Curls

So I saw someone use this technique over on lhcf and I wanted to try it out myself and see if it would work.

I started on freshly washed and deep conditioned hair and I used Blended Beauty's Curl Styling Butter and sealed with Coconut Oil.

First I put my hair in a high ponytail, then I grabbed small sections of hair and smooth it with my Conair brush.

Then I just twisted the section of hair around my finger and held it for about 10 seconds
Then I just let the hair fall

And here are a couple of pics with my whole ponytail done and while my hair was still wet, it took about 15-20 min to do so not bad

Here is how my hair looked the next day completely dry

And here is 2nd day hair

I love the results, my curls were more defined and I had virtually no frizz :)

Enjoy!

Christmas Hair

I wanted to try something different for Christmas this year so I found this cute style done by  on youtube.

I started this style on freshly washed and deep conditioned hair using Ouidad Shampoo and Aussie Moist 3 Min. Miracle Deep Conditioner.

I had two rows of flat twists going from ear to ear in the front of my head going forward, all remaining flat twists on the sides and in the back were going downward (vertical). I used Blended Beauty's Curl Styling Butter (Review Coming Soon) and sealed with Coconut Oil. I also used two different sized perm rods on the ends to curl them, thinking that if I used bigger rods in the back I wouldn't have so much shrinkage and I could wear it all down.

Well.............Not so much I looked like I had a Jheri curl (Granted it isn't fluffed to it's full potential but in any case I wasn't feeling it)

So I pinned it all up and to the side and added a cute bow I purchased at

Here is the finished look:

Enjoy!
