Best Twist Out EVER!!!

Hello Lovelies,
 I just wanted to share my pics of my best twist out ever! I love it and I am so proud of it and I think it should last me about 3-5 days which is awesome!

I used: ORS Lock & Twist Gel and Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter while twisting and when I took the twists down I used a little of my African Royale Hot Six Oil.

Twist Out with Side Cornrows

So I did this style all in one day! Yay! Most styles I do on my hair I have to do the night before and then it's ready for the next day. But this style I did the side cornrows and then twisted my hair in about 8-10 twist at about 12 noon and by 5pm I took them down and my hair was ready to go!

I used the following to get this look:
My Leave-In conditioner mix
Carol's Daughter Hair Butter
Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel

Fauxhawk/Updo

So I took down my cornrow & twist updo and as I was pinning it up for the night I sort of created this fauxhawk and I thought it was cool.

To achieve this look I used bobby pins and two banana clips

Cornrow Design

I started this style yesterday and parted the hair ear to ear and cornrowed just the top half of the diva's head. I then braided the rest tonight and added a little criss cross design in the middle for flair.

My First Hot Oil Treatment

So after much research and many answered questions courtesy of Kandy (thanks girl) I decided to try out a hot oil treatment on the diva.

I used my African Royale Hot Six Oil and poured a generous amount in a bowl and microwaved it for one minute. Then I wrapped a towel around the diva and used my hair dye brush to apply the oil to her scalp and hair, I worked in four sections. After her hair was covered in oil I put a plastic cap on and she watched TV for 25 min. Then I rinsed the oil out and shampoo'd and condish'd as normal. Then I applied a little Carol's Daughter Hair Butter and banded her hair for the rest of the day and night. This morning when I styled her hair I was amazed at how soft her hair was. My hand-in-hair syndrome kicked in and I couldn't stop touching her hair :) I am very pleased with the results and I plan to add this once a month to her hair care routine.

Cornrow & Twist Updo

So I saw this style over at Her Best Hair awhile back and have always wanted to try it out on my hair. Now my hair is way shorter than hers and I can't really braid my own hair, my arms get tired and as you may already know I can't part as it is so parting my own hair was almost impossible.

I think this style should last a few days.

I did this on freshly washed and deep conditioned hair and I used Carol's Daughter Hair Butter and ORS Lock & Twist Gel (very little)

3 Strand twist Braided Ponytails

So I wanted to do something different, I wanted to jazz up the diva's regular two ponytails so I sectioned the hair in 3 ways and made two regular braids on each side and the hair in the middle I did a 3 strand twist.

Then I took those 3 completed sections and braided them together like you were doing a regular braid and this is what it looked it like.

Almost a straight part, one flaw in the middle, I am getting better :)

My Experiment with a homemade deep conditioner

So I saw tons of people talking about this homemade deep conditioner on many blogs, hair care forums, and websites. In fact I read so many rave reviews about it that I decided to try it myself.

Avocado Deep Conditioner (The ingredients used vary) but this is what I used:

I forgot to add the Honey to this picture

I mixed in a bowl one whole avocado, I mashed it with my hands
2 teaspoons of EVOO
2 teaspoons of Honey
1/2 the can of the coconut milk

Then I used my hand blender and mixed it all up and this is what it looked like:

What I did:
I washed my hair with shampoo then I sectioned my hair in four sections and added the mix to my hair from roots to ends and I made sure every strand was coated. I put a plastic cap on my head and then wrapped a warm damp towel around and let it sit for 25 min. I rinsed it out in the shower.....

I hated it! Maybe I did something wrong, I don't know, maybe I should have used regular conditioner first then added this after rinsing out the regular conditioner. But my hair felt like wiry straw, it was horrible! It took about a good week of multiple co-washes and a deep condition with regular conditioner to soften it back up again. This stuff smelled really bad too, yuck! And it left little pieces of avocado in my hair that I kept finding and pulling out, even after all of my good mixing I did.

So my lesson learned is just because it works for some doesn't mean it will work for you, I am just glad this was a cheap experiment :)

Mini Twist Out

So I intended on keeping my mini twists in for at least a total of 3 days but I couldn't last that long my hair is dirty and needs to be washed, it's a curse I tell ya I have to wash or co wash every 3-4 days. So anyway I said to myself I can't let this beautiful twist out go to waste so I wore it work today.

Twists...Mini Sort Of?!?

So I was bored last night and decided to do some "mini" twists in my hair, I put mini in quotations because they are mini to me :) he he. So I used Carol's Daughter Hair Butter and Lock & Twist Gel and slept with my satin bonnet and that's all.

Cornrows and Box Braids

The title pretty much sums it up. I left them down like in the picture for the first day with the cornrows pulled into two small ponytails. Then in one ponytail the nexy day, then put them in two ponytails the day after that.

Side Note: The last time I did box braids I said I would never do them again, but I did :)

Hair Cut

So I noticed the diva's end seemed to always look fuzzy and feel extremely dry and brittle, so decided they had to go! She needed a hair cut. I thought long and hard as to what caused this to happen and I believe that it was caused by not properly caring for them. I never thought to add extra moisture or oil to the ends and I didn't up until recently dip her rubber bands in oil to soften them up. So now I am armed with knowledge and products to properly care for her ends.

I cut about 2 1/2 inches off, at first the diva didn't want "short" hair so after some convincing she felt better about it and after the cut and she saw it in the mirror she loved it!

In other news....

Here is an update on JJ's curls, they seem to have gotten longer.

This is freshly washed and conditioned hair, no products, still damp.

So I was running out of my Proclaim Olive Moisturizing Creme that I bought awhile back (before I started reading the labels and ingredients).

I loved this stuff! I loved the light texture and the smell and creaminess to it. (Noticed I said loved?) Then today while on my lunch break I popped into Sally Beauty Supply to look around and and picked up the creme and decided to check the label and to my horror I found it contains Mineral Oil and Petrolatum :( So I opted not to repurchased and decided I would try this....

African Royale Hot Six Oil, here are the ingredients:
