Bantu Knot Out Styled Natural Hair

SAM_3820

Hello :) I wanted to try a bantu knot out style again on my natural hair, it's been a long time since I tried it last. So I started with damp hair and used my Shea Butter Mix and Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel, I made about 12 knots. I didn't use anything to secure them I just wrapped the hair around itself and tucked it under.   So I've concluded that I don't like this style on me. I don't know if I am twisting the hair too tightly or what but it's too hard to separate the twisted knots and even harder to detangle them. So I can pretty much say I won't be doing this style again, ever. I left the knots in over night and took them down using a little  coconut oil on my fingers. Do you like Bantu Knots?   … [Read more...]

Life of a Dancer: My 9 year old daughter

1

Hey Guys, Last night I took a couple of fun pictures of Jordyn to share with you all what she does around the house ALL day and night long. Please excuse the poor quality and bad lighting, it was night and I used my lame-o camera phone that doesn't have a flash. She has been dancing since she was 4 years old and competitively dancing since age 7, she lives breathe and eats dance and gymnastics! She taught herself how to do this varatition of an elbow stand by watching youtube videos. Lessons that I learned from my daughter: Never give up on your dreams, you can do anything you put your mind too and if there is no one to teach you how to do something learn to do yourself! Do you your kids teach you life lessons at their young age? Enjoy! … [Read more...]

DIY: Shea Butter Mix for Hair

SAM_3817

Hey Guys, So I ran out of my last batch Shea Butter Mix and I looked on youtube to find a new mix, just to switch things up and try something different. After watching a few videos I just decided to use what I had on hand. So I used the following: Raw Shea Butter (purchased locally from an African Store near my job) Tropical Tradition Coconut Oil Extra Virign Olive Oil Avocado Oil Vitamin E Castor Oil I used a large mixing bowl and mixed the following together: 5-6 tablespoons of raw shea butter 3-4 tablespoons of coconut oil 1/2 teaspoon of EVOO, Castor oil, Avocado oil 8 capsules of Vitamin E oil (1/2 teaspoon) My Vitamin E is in capsules so I just poked a little hole in each capsule until I got enough for 1/2 teaspoon. The vitamin E will act as a preserver for the mix so it won't go bad so fast. I used my hand mixer and whipped everything up together until I got a nice and fluffy consistency. Then I transferred my mix into an old hair … [Read more...]

DIY Easy Sew Clutch Purse Project

1

Hey guys! So I bought myself a Singer Sewing Machine last summer in the hopes of learning how to sew clothes for my kids and occasionally myself. I made a pretty cool summer dress for Jordyn, (I'll make a post on that later) and then I came across a really cool DIY easy sew clutch project/tutorial that was posted on Mimi G's website.  Unfortunately the tutorial is no longer posted, as it was a limited time only posting, so I can't share a link with you but I did want to show off my finished result What I learned from this project: Disclaimer: This is my second ever sewing project I've done. The corner to the left in the picture where the zipper is, it's kinda stuff inside meaning I sewed up to high and I need to correct it and pick up the seams cause it's bugging me. Also I used a suede-like material for my corners in red the tutorial used felt but I wanted something a little more fancy :) By doing this I learned that suede-like material frays :( So if I use this … [Read more...]

Healthing: LYSOL ~ Keep Your Family Healthy & Happy!

th

LYSOL just so happens to be one of my favorite brands of cleaning products, they offer the maximum cleaning power that gets the tough jobs done. I also don't have to worry about any lingering germs or bacteria hanging around on surfaces throughout my home or office at work.   LYSOL recently launched a new initiative called Healthing, a new idea centered on  keeping families healthy by looking beyond just cleaning your home but ensuring that you and your family stay well. To help spread the word about Healthing LYSOL has teamed up with television personality Giuliana Rancic, to visit YMCA's in select markets across the country to demonstrate Healthing in action. At each location LYSOL will provide attendees with hands-on education  about the required steps to practice and products to use to improve hygiene habits in their own homes, all while making the idea fun for kids. LYSOL will also provide educational information and disinfecting products to the local YMCAs, along … [Read more...]

Disney’s PLANES: Full Voice Cast

image001

Hey Guys! Disney's PLANES lands (get it? hehehe) in theaters on Aug. 9th 2013 in 3D but recently Disney has annouced the full voice cast! My 11 year old has an interest in planes and helicopters as of the last few months. You know how these too-cool-for-school tweens are, they like something new and different every week. So I am actually surprised his interest has waned yet. I know that he is axiously awaiting the debut of this film and so am I! Dane Cook voices Dusty Julia Louis-Dreyfus voices Rochelle, a tough and confident racer who is the pride of the Great White North. Carlos Alazraqui voices El Chupacabra, a racer with more dramatic flair than is recommended at high altitudes. The rest of the voice cast includes: Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Cedric the Entertainer, John Cleese, Priyanka Chopra, Gabriel Iglesias, Roger Craig Smith, Colin Cowherd, Sinbad, Oliver Kalkofe and Brent Musburger. About the Movie: From above the world … [Read more...]
